Journal of Social-Law Intellectuals (JSH) recognizes that plagiarism is a serious ethical violation and has established a comprehensive policy to address it. The following policy outlines specific actions and penalties upon identification of plagiarism or similarities in articles submitted for publication in the journal: **Plagiarism-Screening Policy:** Definition: Plagiarism involves the "use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work." Policy: Papers submitted to JSLI must be original, unpublished, and not pending publication elsewhere. Any material taken directly from another source must be clearly identified as such through proper citation and quotation marks. Similarity Checking: All submitted manuscripts will undergo plagiarism screening using Turnitin or iThenticate originality checking software. A maximum similarity index of 25% is allowed for submitted papers. If the similarity index exceeds this threshold, the article will be returned to the author for correction and resubmission. Levels of Plagiarism and Penalties: 1. **Minor Plagiarism:** - Definition: A short section of another article is plagiarized without significant data or ideas taken from the other paper. - Action: Authors will receive a warning and be requested to change the text and properly cite the original article. 2. **Intermediate Plagiarism:** - Definition: A significant portion of a paper is plagiarized without proper citation. - Action: The submitted article will be rejected, and authors will be forbidden from submitting further articles for one year. 3. **Severe Plagiarism:** - Definition: A significant portion of a paper is plagiarized, including reproduction of original results or ideas from another publication. - Action: The paper will be rejected, and authors will be forbidden from submitting further articles for five years. Responsibility: All authors are responsible for the content of their submitted papers and must adhere to JSH's Copyright and Licensing Terms. If plagiarism is identified, all authors will be subject to the same penalty. Repeat Offenses: If a second case of plagiarism by the same author(s) is identified, the Editorial Board will determine further measures, which may include permanent prohibition from submitting articles to the journal. Other Considerations: This policy also applies to self-plagiarism and the reuse of previously published material. Authors must obtain permission and properly cite any previously published material used in their submissions. Retraction and Corrections: JSLI may retract publications if they are found to contain unreliable findings, plagiarism, unauthorized material, ethical violations, or other serious issues. Retractions will be clearly communicated and made freely available to readers. Expression of Concern and Corrections: Expressions of concern and corrections may be issued if there is inconclusive evidence of misconduct or if corrections are needed for misleading or incorrect information. This policy is intended to uphold the integrity of JSLI and ensure the publication of high-quality, original research. It will be communicated to authors upon manuscript submission and posted on the journal's website.
